Field Maintenance and Policies

TORSO member teams are responsible for maintaining their "Home" field/s and that they remain in compliance with FIFA Laws of the Game pertaining to the minimum requirements for safe and fair play.

Per the TORSO By-Laws, if any fields are deemed "not in compliance", home teams have 10 days to make corrections and bring them into compliance or the TORSO Board of Directors will have the corrections contracted out and the cost will be passed on to each team that uses said fields as their "HOME" field.

Common areas of field maintenance issues are:

  • 4 corner flags of proper height
  • Goal nets that are in good repair and are secured to the goal posts
  • Accurate field markings of proper width and visibility
  • Minimum distances between technical areas, touch lines, spectators / stands
  • Repair holes or other dangerous objects (sprinkler heads) that may be exposed on the field

A complete listing of field requirements may be found in FIFA Laws of the Game manual.

Bear Creek Practice Field Policies

The Westside fields (Bear Creek) are once again open for adult practices. HFA will be using field #30, HWSA will be using Field #29, and Torso will be using field #28.  Its important that teams only train on their assigned fields, otherwise they will be removed by the Precinct 5 Police.

Important Practice Information

  1. Make sure that each team that trains on the Westside fields has their player cards
  2. Make sure they have a letter of permission from their Adult league (HFA, HWSA, TORSO); and also make sure the letter also includes that they have permission from Westside. They should have this with them at each practice to avoid being kicked off.  It would be wise to laminate this letter.
  3. Make sure teams call the weather line before going to practice.
  4. Make sure that teams that train on the weekend are aware of the youth tournaments.
  5. Make sure your teams don't allow un-registered players to practice with them. If they don't have a player card, they are not allowed to practice with the team. This is very important because this would terminate their practice rights at Westside fields.
  6. Most important of all - Please tell your teams when and if approached by the police and/or Westside to please be respectful.
