Playoff Guidelines and Rules

At the conclusion of the regular season, the Div 2 and Div 1 teams are divided into 4 groupings of 5 each (1 group will have only 4 for division 2).

The groups are formed by assigning teams based on points using a snake-style assignment method with manual adjustment to guarantee that no group has more than 2 teams from the same division.

Each group plays a 4-game round robin tournament.  3 points for winner, 2 for tie, 1 for loss, 0 for a forfeit.

The bracket winner is the team in each bracket with the greatest total number of points.  In the event of 2 or more teams having the same number of points, the first tie breaker is head-to head.  Second is Goal Differential.

The 4 bracket winners from each of division 1 and 2 will play a single elimination final 4 tournament.  Winners advance to a final’s matchup.

A semi-final or final game ending in tie at the conclusion of regulation will result in two 10 minutes overtime periods.

A new coin toss will occur to determine first possession and sides.  Teams will change sides after each period. The team that did not kick off in the first overtime period will kick off in the second overtime period. If the game is still tied after the conclusion of the overtime periods, the game will be decided by kicks from the penalty mark.

Scores from penalty kicks score 1 point per player regardless of gender. Male and females alternate. Each team starts with 5 players. If teams are tied after 5 shots, play a 1 player at a time sudden death penalty shootout.
